i'll save you from her

because her rubber eyes are closed

and childhood has survived us all.

worthy dress pants are hung and

basement stench has turned to

dusted gold. we bought our freedom 

and hugged our family's wobbly 

legs.


but,  i am alive to see them

collide into my stiff neck

open heart 

closed fears.
